With decades of achievement in generations of women’s education, our college continues to move forward together with confidence, pride and passion. The state of knowledge on the various teaching methods, the current enthusiasm in academic research, staff development and the technology used in teaching and learning has improved.

Ismail National Mahila (PG) College in Meerutwas founded by the famous writer, philosopher and educationist Mohd. Ismail ‘Meerathi’ in 1909 as a primary school. It is named after its founder. Ismail Merathi is a famous Urdu Shayar, Ghazal and Nazam Writer of all times from Meerut, India. His strong belief in women empowerment and education in the time when Muslim women’s education was not supported. His belief and hard work lead to the opening of this school.

In 1940, it was upgraded to High School and in 1952 upto Intermediate. In 1962, the college gained the status of a degree college and got affiliated to Agra University. In 1984, it became a Post Graduate College with the affiliation to C.C.S. University, Meerut. In April 2007, the college was accredited B+ and in 2010, it was awarded College with Potential for Excellence. In 2015, this college has been accredited ‘A’ grade by NAAC.

With twelve UG and ten PG programs in Arts faculty, UG & PG in Commerce, accommodating more than 3000 students, teaching staff and non-teaching staff, the College marches ahead towards the realization of its goals and objectives of uplifting the rural and urban background students educationally, morally and socially. Nine Departments of Arts faculty have Ph.D. program also. The faculty is experienced and well qualified. The staff and the students toil hard to achieve even the unachievable. The college makes a continuous internal assessment of its students through such practices as, classroom written tests, half yearly exams and departmental seminars followed by the final university examinations.
